The Medical Services Department plays a crucial role in our organization.  We know our role with credentialing and privileging and the end result to get providers working and treating our patients, but we would also maintain we are the start of the revenue cycle for our organization.  Without providers there is no revenue from seeing patients.

The only thing constant in our world is change, whether it has been a software conversion, the pandemic or the loss of resources due to budget cuts over the past three years, our team has certainly had to learn to be more resilient, be more innovative with less, to pivot quickly and re-imagine how we do our work and to be comfortable with change.  This was never more evident than with the split of our health system in August.  This team lost half of the people they worked with for 5+ years and had to re-establish its identity as the Medical Staff Department for AdventHealth's new Rocky Mountain Region.

In spite of this latest major change, this team has been reticent in continuing its good, important work to ensure there has been no gap in our region's credentialing and privileging, but to also serve as an example within our profession.  We continually look for ways we can impact, influence, and inspire current and future MSPs.  We have followed through on our commitments to present at both national and state conferences to tell our story around peer review and help educate fellow MSPs on using Lean and Kotter practices in their daily work to help manage change.  Their willingness to share leading practices with other MSPs is something that we as leaders ingrained into our team early on.  It is a foundational element of who we are as MSPs, a willingness to share amongst the team, with other MSPs in our state, and with the national MSP community.

It's that part of being an MSP that makes me proud to be a fellow MSP and to lead this AMAZING team who have endured so much and have asked for so little in return.
